Grays (Consulting Engineering) Limited were engaged as Civil and Structural Engineers on the Lower Mill care facility development. The site overlooks the river and is adjacent to a park. The plan was to refurbish the listed buildings and build over 50, superior waterside assisted-living retirement homes for rent, all nestled within landscaped grounds over half a hectare.

This development consisted of reinforced concrete foundations and includes an underground car parking facility. In addition to the new build elements, Grays undertook the design and detailing of structural improvements to the Grade II Listed Building on the development site.

Lower Mill is a unique complex comprising the remainder of a Georgian water mill and detached granary building. Works will commence in September 2019 for the development of 53 high quality assisted living apartments for people over 65 who want to live independently, but with support on hand. This modern development will comprise of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, tastefully designed for comfort and relaxation. A range of communal facilities will also be available to include club room, restaurant, snug bar and private gardens, balconies and patios.
